Monica Garcia-Salmones Rovira

I am Monica Garcia-Salmones, an international lawyer by training, now working in the fields of (international) legal theory, legal philosophy and jurisprudence. I was born in the Basque Country, Spain, and moved to Helsinki, Finland, where I studied and lived for many years, until a few years ago, when I came to Maastricht University. I love reading, Hallyu, music and chatting with friends.

My first encounter with Stichting Grotius was an invitation to give a keynote in the 2025 iPLC. The event struck me as a truly inspirational way of helping young leaders discover their path, and I was immediately drawn to the project as a whole.

Soon after, together with a few friends, we started the van Reigersberch Leadership Institute, where I am the Executive Director, with the aim of helping young women to flourish and, ultimately, be happy in their lives. We live only once – that is my motto.
